Naidunia, one of India’s leading Hindi newspapers, hosted the Indore Auto Show from 28th to 30th August. This is the first time that such an auto show was hosted in Central India. Of course, there are many auto shows and similar events hosted in Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and other leading cities of India but Central India was always somehow left out. Hence, a welcome change, that the manufacturers also targeted Indore this time. Our reporter was there to capture the news.
Overview
The Indore Auto Show was a small beginning where leading auto manufacturers like Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, Mahindra, Hyundai, General Motors, Skoda Auto, Toyota marked their presence in full force. Two wheeler manufacturers Hero Honda, Suzuki, TVS, Royal Enfield were also present showcasing all their products. There was something for everyone, and even the three-wheeler companies, auto rickshaws, pickup trucks, small domestic two wheeler manufacturers like Vibgyor and auto accessories retailers, were there. The show was a definitely a great beginning towards something that can definitely turn into something bigger and stronger in the coming years.
Maruti
Maruti Suzuki marked the biggest presence with its models Wagon R, Ritz, New Omni, new Alto, SX4, new Estilo, A-Star and Swift. M800 was absent as the company yet needs to upgrade the model. All the models present were from the K-series engine showcasing the eco-friendly and fuel efficient product portfolio.
Tata Motors
Tata Motors was the next company, but it showcased only its commercial vehicles like Winger, Winger Luxury and Magic CNG. Other passenger vehicles at the show were Hyundai i10 and Santro, Chevrolet UVA and Spark, Toyota Corolla Altis and Innova. Skoda Superb, Laura and Fabia. Two wheelers present at the show were Hero Honda CBZ, Hunk, CBZ Extreme, Splendour, Vibgyor Gallop, Suzuki models, Royal Enfield Thunderbird and Electra, TVS Flame, Apache RTR and Yamaha models.
Hence, we can see that the manufacturers unfortunately did not show any spectacular items – that may be reserved for the bigger cities!
Scooters for the ladies!
The gearless scooters and scooterettes like Mahindra Flyte, Hero Honda Pleasure, TVS Scooty Pep, were especially showcased for the lady customers.
Targeting a new audience
The Indore Auto Show from Naidunia provided an interesting and a convenient platform to the customers. Visitors, even from the rural areas of Madhya Pradesh, had flocked down to the show and booked their choice of vehicles. The show thus provided a great entry point for a different segment of customers to book their cars!
Other stalls
Apart from the auto manufacturers, retailers and manufacturers of lubricant, tyres, auto accessories, security systems, alloy wheels, film kits were present at the show. State Bank of India was the main auto financier which was present to offer easy loans to the customers.
Auto Fashion Show!
The show ended with a late night gala event with an “Auto Fashion Show” where several old and new car models “walked” the ramp and left the onlookers fascinated. Hyundai models walked the ramp first followed by Skoda, Hero Honda, Ford, Toyota, TVS, Yamaha, Mahindra Two Wheelers, Royal Enfield and all other manufacturers present at the show. A few bikers pulled amazing stunts at the show which was quite new for the visitors.
Conclusion
The show was a great success and opened new avenues especially for the auto manufacturers to make sales and showcase their products to a wider variety of audience. The visitors were also especially happy to find all the auto models under one roof so that they could be easily compared.
