After the MKZ and Continental sedans, Lincoln has turned its focus on updating its crossovers and SUVs. The MKC is the first to get the overhauling and its test mule was spotted testing at Lincoln’s Dearborn headquarters in Michigan. Expect to see the revised Lincoln MKC later this year at the Los Angeles Motor Show or early next year at the Detroit Motor Show.

The cladded prototype hides a new fascia. The most prominent changes include the new grille and headlights. The grille which can now be seen on the Continental and MKZ sedans will now adorn the smallest crossover, replacing the ‘butterfly’ designed grille. Both the headlights and the tail lights will be reworked as well to keep things fresh. The wheels, on the other hand, seem to have taken their cues from the Lincoln Navigator Concept showcased last year. Rest of the body remains unchanged compared to the current generation MKC. On the inside, expect the crossover to have added features in safety and entertainment front.

Under the hood, the MKC will continue to be offered with its line-up of 2.0-litre EcoBoost engine along with the 2.3-litre unit with power output ranging from 240-290bhp. The transmission, however, is expected to get an updated nine-speed automatic developed with GM, replacing the older six-speed unit.
