Volvo Cars India, the domestic arm of Swedish auto maker, seems all prepared to introduce its new model, V40 Cross Country, in the Indian auto market. Industry experts are of a view that the model will sparkle at the Indian shores somewhere in June 2013. Currently, the auto maker is offering four models to the Indian buyers, namely S60, S80, XC60 and XC90. With the launch of V40 Cross Country in the Indian market, Volvo India will be offering its most affordable model in the country, which is expected to target the young buyers.

It is believed that the Volvo V40 Cross Country model is packed with off roading potentials, in addition to the hatchback capacity of the V40 hatchback. Owing to this, the upcoming model is anticipated to enjoy the credentials of both luxury hatchback and an off-roading competent model. Post launch, Volvo V40 Cross Country will deliver a stiff competition to BMW X1 and Audi Q3, who are currently ruling the premium compact Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) segment. It must be noted that along with the Volvo’s new economical model, the German counterparts Mercedes-Benz and BMW are also coming up with their A-Class and 1 Series premium hatchbacks for the Indian auto market.

However, Volvo India has yet not revealed the exact pricing of its upcoming premium hatchback. But, industry experts are of a view that the model will be priced close to Rs. 22 lakh, which will help the Swedish auto maker in luring the hearts of masses. The launch of a new premium hatch is anticipated to help Volvo India in consolidating its position in the Indian market, while pulling some decent volumes. Coming to the technical configuration of the model, V40 Cross Country is expected to come equipped with a 2 litre diesel engine, which will churn out a maximum power output of over 150 bhp.

Global reviews have stated that the model will be a perfect blend of brilliant driving dynamics and dominant character, which are both sure to strike right chords with the Indian buyers. Other expected USPs of the model are interior comfort, safe technology and striking mileage, which will all together make it a decent model to go for. Auto analysts are of a strong view that the launch of Volvo V40 Cross Country will turn the tides in the favour of Swedish auto maker, who has not performed fairly well in the Indian auto market as of now.
