      Land Rover to showcase concept of Defender SUV at Frankfurt

      Land Rover, the British luxury sports utility vehicle (SUV) maker that is owned by Indian auto giant Tata Motors, said on Wednesday that it will launch a new version of Defender SUV by year 2015. The company will display the concept of this vehicle at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

      In a statement issued on Wednesday, Land Rover said, "The Land Rover Defender Concept 100, a modern interpretation of the iconic Land Rover Defender, will make its debut at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show."

      According to Mr. Gerry McGovern, Land Rover Director of Design, "This isn't a production-ready concept, but the beginning of a four-year journey to design a relevant Defender for the 21st century."

      According to a statement given by Land Rover Global Brand Director John Edwards, the company plans to engage with existing and potential customers to help it finalize the details of the new vehicle. He added that it's going to be an exciting journey and the company can't wait to get going."

      Besides the concept of Defender SUV, the company will also showcase its upcoming crossover Land Rover Evoque at the show. Land Rover was acquired by Tata Motors in year 2008 from US based auto giant Ford Motors. The British luxury car maker is performing considerably well under Tata regime since then.
