Tata Motors-owned Jaguar Land Rover today launched the petrol version of the Range Rover Evoque. For now only the SE trim is on sale at Rs 53.2 lakh in India.

The Range Rover Evoque presently sold in the Indian market was only available as a diesel version powered by the 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel mill. Now prospective buyers who would want to opt for a petrol version can opt for this new SE variant. This comes powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol unit that produces 237bhp of power and 340Nm of torque. On the transmission front, the nine-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters will continue to be offered for this variant as well.

The SE petrol version will be same as the diesel iteration of the Evoque as far as features and equipment is concerned. Apart from this version, the carmaker already sells the Evoque in the 2.0-litre Pure, SE, SE Dynamic, HSE and HSE Dynamic diesel variants. All of these models are locally manufactured at the carmaker's manufacturing facility in Pune.

Rohit Suri, President, Jaguar Land Rover India Ltd, said, "We are excited to introduce the 2017 Model Year New Range Rover Evoque with a 2.0-litre petrol derivative. The addition of the 2.0-litre petrol derivative reinforces our commitment towards customers who aspire to drive this fabulous vehicle with a powerful petrol engine.”
