Land Rover introduces Ingenium petrol engine for Velar

Badged P300, this new powertrain is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder unit from the Ingenium range, delivering 296bhp and 400Nm of torque. The engine sends power to all four wheels through an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission. This engine can propel the Velar from a standstill to 100kmph in 5.7 seconds. The engine is produced at Jaguar Land Rover’s engine manufacturing centre in Wolverhampton, UK. Apart from the P300, the Velar is available with six petrol and diesel powertrains, with outputs ranging from 250 horsepower to 380 horsepower.

Land Rover is planning to bring the Velar to India in November. Positioned between the Evoque and the Range Rover Sport, the Velar will be sold as a completely built unit (CBU). It will compete against the Porsche Macan and the Jaguar F-Pace.
