Range Rover Evoque Convertible imported to India for homologation

The launch of the Range Rover Evoque Convertible for the Indian market doesn't seem to be too far now. The carmaker has recently imported one vehicle to our country for homologation purposes.

The world premiere of the Range Rover Evoque Convertible took place in November last year. This is the SUV's open top version and is pitted to be the most capable convertible SUVs in the world. Apart from its versatile capabilities, the SUV's main highlight is the soft-top roof with a glass rear screen tucked under a plastic cover located behind the rear seats. This fully-automated roof has a Z-fold mechanism with the help of which it closes in 18 seconds and can close in 21 seconds at speeds of 48kmph.

We can expect only the HSE Dynamic trim to be offered in the Indian market. This variant comes powered by a 2.0-litre Si4 turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 237bhp of power and 340Nm of torque. This mill comes mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission and power is sent all the wheels via a four-wheel drive system. While the car can do the 0-100 sprint in 8.6 seconds, it also reaches a top-speed of 209kmph.

Jaguar Land Rover had announced that they plan to launch this top-down version of the Evoque in about 170 countries by the end of 2016. It seems the carmaker's Indian counterpart is preparing to launch the most capable luxurious convertible SUV in the world sometime soon. It will be sold in India through the CBU route.
