Lamborghini has revealed the new Aventador S Roadster ahead of its debut at the Frankfurt Auto Show next week.

Currently, the all-new Aventador S Roadster is the only “mid-rear engine V12 super sports roadster” on sale. All the elements from the Aventador S Coupe are retained, but the Roadster also sports a removable hardtop roof panels. The panels weigh less than six kilograms and it is convexly-moulded to make extra cabin space for the occupants. The removable hard-top can be had in matte black carbon fibre finish apart from gloss black, shiny carbon fibre, and can be personalised as well.

Exclusive to the Roadster is a Y-shaped engine bridge that runs from the back window to the rear of the body. It combines the body colour with a distinct black-painted carbon fibre engine hood blades. There’s also a transparent bridge option that can be added. It allows a splendid view of the V12 lurking underneath.

The Italian carmaker claims that the active rear wing optimises aerodynamic forces. The downforce is improved by 130 per cent. With the wing in optimum position, the Roadster achieves over 50 per cent overall efficiency at downforce and reduced drag by more than 400 per cent.

There are five colours to choose from which are coupled with five interior configurations. So you can have a leather and Alcantara in either single or bi-colour combination with contrast stitching and trim choices. With the Ad Personam programme, the Roadster can be personalised as well. The centre infotainment system also gets smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay. The carbon ceramic brakes come as a standard along with Pirelli P Zero tyres.

The Roadster is powered by the same naturally aspirated 6.5-litre monstrous V12 breathing out 730bhp and 690Nm. The S-badged Roadster does a 0-100kmph sprint in flat three seconds, hitting a top speed of 350kmph. The seven-speed Independent Shifting Rod (ISR) transmission sends power to all-four wheels. The Roadster comes equipped with all the wizardry and gizmos that debuted in the Aventador S Coupe last year.
