KTM has finally gone ahead and launched the 2017 390 Duke. Unlike the RC which got more mechanical than styling changes, the Duke gets a sea change as far as styling is concerned. It looks more like its much much larger sibling, the 1290 Super Duke, thanks to the split LED headlamps and the larger and more muscular fuel tank. In short, it definitely looks the part.

Along with the new appearance, the bike also gets a lot of features which are a first not only in its segment but also above it. Like the 2017 RC, the 390 Duke also gets a ride-by-wire throttle, larger 320mm front disc, adjustable levers and a contact-less starter. Specific to the Duke is a new multi-colour TFT console that can be paired with a smartphone and can be operated via the switchgear.

However if you expected the 390 Duke to get more power, you will be disappointed. The 373cc, single cylinder, liquid-cooled engine remains unchanged apart from now being BSIV compliant. So it still puts out 43.5PS and 37Nm of torque. The riding experience though, is expected to get better thanks to the inclusion of ride-by-wire that ensures a smoother throttle response and a new larger 13.5 litre fuel tank that will give the bike more range. Also retained is the switchable dual channel ABS and the slipper clutch.

Priced at Rs. 2.25 lakh ex-showroom Delhi, the new 390 Duke is now priced on par with new RC390 making it marginally more expensive than its predecessor.
