Kia has revealed the Seltos in India ahead of its official launch for the domestic market in August. It’s a new compact SUV from the South Korean automaker that will take on the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks and the Renault Duster.
Under the hood, the Seltos will be offered with three BS-VI compliant engine options- 1.5-litre petrol and diesel as well as a 1.4-litre GDi petrol. Both the 1.5-litre engines get a six-speed manual as standard along with a CVT for the petrol and AT for the diesel. The GDI engine can only be had with a seven-speed dual clutch transmission.
The Seltos measures in at (LXBXH) 4.3-metersX1.8-metersX1.62-meters. The wheelbase standard at 2.61-meters which put its third among its rivals. Design highlights of the Seltos include the tiger nose grille, shoulder line, lighting package as well as the design of the alloy wheels. There are two design schemes- GT-Line and the Tech Line, with the former being a sporty outlook for the Seltos while the latter is a conventional setup aimed at family buyers.
Inside, the Seltos gets a beige and brown setup and is feature loaded to the gills. There’s climate control, 10.25-inch display for the touchscreen system, heads up display, Bose sound system, sound mood lighting and connected car technologies.
The safety feature list is quite comprehensive with six airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, stability management programme, blind spot monitor, front and rear parking sensors and a surround view monitor.
Kia first showcased the Seltos as the SP2i concept during the 2018 Auto Expo. It then released the next evolution of the car in the form of the SP2i Signature. The photos from the TVC were leaked last month revealing the car that you see in the pictures.
As mentioned earlier, the Seltos will be launched in India in the months to come, and it is being produced at Kia’s new plant that it has set up at Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. We expect that Kia will price the Seltos in the range Rs 11-17 lakhs.
