For quite a while now Toyota and Hyundai have been trying to introduce the Daihatsu and Kia brands respectively in India. This time around sources have revealed that the companies may introduce new products from their respective line from 2018-19 onwards. The upcoming models could likely emerge as a stiff competitor against country’s leading player Maruti Suzuki in India. It would also help the parent companies further strengthen its presence in India.
The Kia brand is reportedly in talks with several state governments to set up its manufacturing facility. It is likely that the company may choose Tada in Andhra Pradesh owing to its proximity to Hyundai’s facility located in Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu. Daihatsu on the other hand is holding discussions and conducting feasibility studies with vendors to understand the Indian cost structure. It is also believed that the company may use the Toyota’s facility located in Bidadi, Karnataka.
