Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), the British subsidiary of the Indian auto giant Tata Motors is all set to re-enter the field of motor sports after almost 8 years. Back in 2004, JLR’s active involvement was ended after it sold its Formula 1 racing team. In a major step to return the arena of racing heritage, the company is now looking forward to launch Jaguar Heritage Racing very soon.
Almost five decades after leaving the motorsport racing, the likes of Jaguar C – Type and D – Type will again be seen racing at popular venues like the Nürburgring and Goodwood. Moreover, the events like the Pebble Beach Concoursd'Elegance, the Mille Miglia, and E-type challenge will also see the involvement of Jaguar racing cars.
Speaking on the company’s new initiative, Mr. Adrian Hallmark, Jaguar Global Brand’s Director, said, "Jaguar is proud of its heritage and it is a heritage that is both alive and ever evolving. Advanced engineering is part of our heritage – 2012 sees the 60th anniversary of Jaguar's development of the disc brake for automotive use, and ten years since the marquee introduced aerospace-inspired Aluminum monocoque technology to its modern range, technology today used on both the XJ and XK.”
He added that racing is very much part of company’s heritage also – which is why Jaguar has launched the Jaguar Heritage Racing programme this year that will see Jaguar C- and D-types in competitive action.
