Fiat will introducing the Jeep brand in India and this will be functioning separately from the existing Fiat range of dealerships. The Jeep brand will be launched in India next year at the 2016 Auto Expo and it have its own set of dealerships.
When we spoke to Kevin Flynn, President and Managing Director, FCA India, he mentioned, “We are 100% backing Make-in-India campaign and one of the future Jeep products will be made in the Ranjangaon plant.”
We learnt that the new product will be manufactured in India and shall be exported to various markets including the European ones. The Jeep brand’s SUV will be a compact one, as per what our sources have confirmed.
“The Ranjangaon plant has one selected as one of the Fiat plants that will be a part of the export hub facilities of FCA,” he further added.
The Jeep brand will be launching the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee next year, and these will be CBUs. The Jeep brand will have separate dealerships and Fiat will range of showrooms shall be separate. The plans to launch Jeep have been delayed as the initial idea was to launch it at the 2014 Auto Expo. However, this was changed and it will be coming in next year. The Abarth brand has also been launched recently with the new 595 and now the Punto and the Avventura - powered by Abarth.
