The Jeep brand was launched in India at the recently concluded 2016 Auto Expo event in India. Back then, it was believed that the company shall introduce the Wrangler, Grand Cherokee and SRT Cherokee in the country. This time around sources have spotted the Jeep Renegade and Jeep Grand Cherokee in India. Though there were no plans to introduce Renegade in India, it now seems like the company may introduce the vehicle as an entry-level variant that would compete against popular sellers like Renault’s Duster and Hyundai Creta in India.
The engine spec for the India trim could not be immediately known. As for the international markets, the Jeep Renegade has been offered with 1.6-liter petrol and 2.0-liter MultiJet II diesel engine option. The vehicle may also be offered with AWD system on higher trims. The fairly powerful engine comes mated to 9-speed automatic and 6-speed manual transmission options.
