Jeep India showcases Wrangler Unlimited and Grand Cherokee SRT to customers

Jeep India had held a private showcase event for few lucky customers ahead of its official brand unveiling in the 2016 Auto Expo event in the country. The company showcased the top-of-the-range Grand Cherokee SRT and the Wrangler Unlimited at its private event. Initially, the company would only be introducing these two models, while a C-segment SUV may be added to the company’s line-up at a later date.

The upcoming Jeep Cherokee SRT would be powered by 6.4-litre engine that generates a massive 475bhp of power and 644Nm of torque. Being pitted against the Porsche Cayenne and BMW X5M SUVs the vehicle could be offered around similar price tag. The Wrangler would be offered in 3.6-litre V6 petrol engine that generates about 275bhp of power and 359Nm of peak torque, while its diesel version would be powered by 2.8-litre engine option that generates about 197 bhp of power and 451 Nm of torque.

To begin with, the Jeep badged vehicles would only be sold via 15-30 existing Fiat dealers located in about 15 larger cities. The company anticipates to sell about 1,400 - 2,000 units initially that could likely rise over time. More details about the vehicle may be known during the upcoming 2016 Auto Expo event.
