Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk India-launch next month

For a while now Jeep has been planning on introducing a petrol SUV range in India. The automaker has revealed its plans to launch the new Grand Cherokee Trailhawk in India next month. The upcoming petrol variant carries forth an identical design but with a few tweaks from its older diesel sibling, the Grand Cherokee.

Under the hood, the upcoming Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk will be powered by a 3.6-litre V6 engine which produces 291bhp of power and 353Nm of torque. The powerful engine comes mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The petrol powered SUV also continues to use the Quadra-Drive II 4x4 system with rear Electronic Limited Slip Differential (ELSD). Additionally, it will also continue to offer Selec-Speed Control with Hill Ascent Control. The lower front section is removable thereby offering an increased approach angle from 29.8 degrees to 36.1 degrees. The suspension has been tweaked to offer additional 10.8 inches of ground clearance.

To distinguish it from its diesel counterpart, the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk sports unique skid plates and a special anti-glare hood decal, a pair of two red hooks in the front as well as back and a stylish grille that resembles the one on the Jeep’s 75th anniversary models. Though 18-inch wheels are offered as standard, customers can opt for special 20-inch Goodyear Adventure off-road tyre with Kevlar reinforcement.

As for the interior, the new Grand Cherokee Trailhawk comes with black theme with leather/suede seats in red contrast stitching. Moreover, a piano-black and gun-metal finish variant might also be on offer. The 8.4-inch infotainment system will be upgraded to offer additional functions. The petrol version is expected to be cheaper by Rs 12-15 lakh as compared to its diesel versions which are priced from Rs 93.64 lakh to right up to Rs 1.03 crore.
