The current generation Jeep Wrangler has been around since 2007. Fortunately, the vehicle will be replaced by an all-new iteration soon. The latter is expected to arrive at the LA Auto Show next month.
The new Wrangler range will resemble the outgoing models but it will be less boxy and more aerodynamic for better economy. The new gen Wrangler will make extensive use of lightweight materials like aluminium in a bid to reduce weight. It will sport some aerodynamic tweaks and will have a fixed and slightly raked windshield amongst the most significant changes. Underneath all that body, the new-gen Wrangler will stay true to its solid axle and body-on-frame configuration.
A new 2.0-litre turbo four, dubbed Hurricane, is slated to be housed inside the Wrangler as a more fuel-efficient option. The Pentastar V6 with an eight-speed automatic will be the mainstream powertrain, although the big news here will be a 3.0-litre V6 turbo diesel for North America and likely global markets. A hybrid powertrain is also rumored to be in the works, and a 6-speed manual is confirmed in the production model.
The new Jeep Wrangler, in all probability, will make its public debut at the LA Auto Show next month.
