Jeep Compass India launch has been confirmed for 31 July 2017. Back in June, Jeep began accepting bookings for the vehicle at a token amount of Rs 50,000 and had managed to accumulate over 1,000 bookings within three days. The entry-level model will be produced at the company’s facility in Ranjangaon, near Pune and will cater to the demands of all the right-hand-drive (RHD) markets including – Australia, UK and Japan.
The upcoming Jeep Compass will be available in petrol as well as diesel engine options in the country. The petrol variant will be powered by a 1.4-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine which generates 160bhp of power and 260Nm of torque. The diesel version, on the other hand, gets a 2-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that generates over 170bhp of power and 350Nm of peak torque. The vehicle will be available in six-speed manual and optional seven-speed automatic transmission. The vehicle is also available with a 4x4 option.
In terms of safety, the Compass comes with more than 50 safety and security features. The equipment list includes frequency selective damping (FSD), electronic stability control (ESC), ABS with EBD, electric parking brake (EPB), dynamic steering torque, hill start assist, adaptive brake lights and panic brake assist as a standard across the range. Moreover, the vehicle gets front airbags as standard, while the top spec limited variant will get six airbags with dual-stage passenger airbags.
Although its price hasn't been revealed yet, we believe that it might range between Rs 15 lakh - Rs 18 lakh (e-showroom Delhi). The new model will be offered in five colour options namely minimal grey, exotica red, hydro blue, vocal white and hip hop black. The vehicle will start arriving at the dealership sometime by the third quarter this year.
