Jeep is looking to go big with the Compass SUV and has now announced that it will be brought to India during Q3 of 2017. This is the first new locally produced model from the American SUV maker and will be assembled at their new plant in Ranjangaon.
Launched in 2016, the Compass is the new entry-level model from Jeep and replaces the older Compass as well as the Patriot models. It sports the latest Jeep design and looks like a scaled down version of the Cherokee. The car will be offered with a range of petrol and diesel engines which can be had with both AT/MT options. The company has also confirmed that certain variants will be offered with a four-wheel drive option.
The Jeep Compass is an important model for the automaker as they are banking on it for volumes which it plans to achieve through domestic sales as well as exports. Jeep will build the Compass here in India for export to RHD markets like the UK, South Africa and Australia.
