Jeep will take the wraps off its new vehicle, codenamed C-SUV, at the 2016 Sao Paulo Motor Show in November. It will be the replacement for Compass and the Patriot and will slot in above the Renegade in their lineup.
Spy pictures reveal a crossover design with all the signature Jeep elements like slatted grille, tail lamps and obviously high ground clearance. It will make use of the same platform as the 500X and the Renegade but will obviously be longer, wider and taller.
This is an important vehicle for Jeep’s Indian operations which is expected to begin later this year. The automaker will start first with the Wrangler and Cherokee through the CBU route but will commence local assembly with this new SUV from sometime in 2017. They have already imported assembly line components for the same from South Korea and are believed to have made a substantial investment to expand operations at their Ranjangaon facility.
The new SUV will be a D+ segment vehicle and is expected to be priced in the range of 26 lakh to Rs 32 lakh. It will be in competition with the Ford Endeavour and the Toyota Fortuner as well as cars like the Skoda Superb.
