Jaguar India has recently introduced a 2.0-litre petrol version in its iconic luxury car XF. Jaguar XF has been present in the Indian auto market since 2008 and has undergone a couple of revamps in the past. However, the advent of a small capacity engine type has been witnessed for the first time in this car. Earlier, the car was available with two diesel engine options, namely a 2.2-litre and 3.0-litre, and an only petrol variant that had the 5.0-litre V8 turbocharged mill.
Addressing the media on this occasion, Rohit Suri, Vice President, Jaguar Land Rover India, was quoted as saying, “The Jaguar XF 2.0L petrol engine is a definite head turner and an excellent sedan that combines elegant design, luxurious style and classy appeal. Jaguar XF has been our most popular premium sedan model in India and is well received and appreciated by our customers.” Interestingly, the 2.0-litre petrol mill is believed to be a Ford EcoBoost engine, which develops 236 bhp with a maximum torque of 340 Nm. This engine is decent on fuel economy and holds a Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) tested mileage of 10.8 kmpl.
Jaguar XF arrives in three versions namely XF Luxury, which is basic model, XF Premium Luxury, which is mid-model and XFR being the top-end range. The 2.0-litre petrol mill has been introduced in the basic version, which will be accompanied with the option of a 2.2-litre diesel unit. Mid-variant comprises a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine, which enables the car to attain 0-100 kmph mark in just 6.4 seconds. The high-end variant of XFR is tapped with the mammoth V8 engine, developing enormous 503 bhp with peak torque of 625 Nm. 0-100 kmph is reached by this car in a minuscule 4.9 seconds. The 8-speed automatic transmission is standard in all variants.
Jaguar XF happens to be a a unique fusion of comfort and luxury, melded with a high-octane drive. The company claims its designing to be a blend of sportscar and sedan, which has been exclusively created for auto aficionados. The outlook of crudeness is perfectly assisted with opulence of its interiors. This car flaunts a splendid layout and provides an authentic comfy driving experience. The new petrol trim from the company will be available at a price tag of around Rs. 48 lakh and is expected to face stiff rivalry from Mercedes-Benz E200.
It must be noted that the present year will mark some new entries from the company's stock. The Auto Expo 2014 will be showcasing the new Jaguar C-X17 and F-Type coupe. The company boasts of employing state-of-the-art engineering in both these models and aims at making these cars successful in domestic market. It must be noted that the luxury car segment of India has gained quite a huge popularity in the recent past and it will be compelling to see how the expansion of portfolio helps Jaguar to lure prospective buyers.
