The Jaguar XE was launched in India in early 2016 and was available with only the 2.0-litre petrol engine. The British car maker has now introduced a diesel engine in the XE and the car will be available in the same three trims as the petrol counterpart – Pure, Prestige and Portfolio.
The looks and styling have been inspired by Jaguar’s revered supercar, the F-TYPE and it carries the signature Jaguar imposing mesh grille and 'J' blade headlamps. The XE is built on the new aluminium-infused platform that has been developed to ensure reduced weight without compromising on safety and handling characteristics of the chassis. The XE is also one of the longest sedans in its class and is loaded with luxury features inside the cabin.
The top-spec Portfolio trim gets leather upholstery, electrically adjustable seats, a multi-zone climate control system and a sliding panoramic sunroof. The 20.32 cm (8-inch) touchscreen infotainment system gets a 380W Meridian audio system with steering mounted audio controls as well.
The entry-level Pure trim is priced at Rs 38.25 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi, and features the new 2.0-litre Ingenium series of turbocharged four cylinder diesel engines. The engine develops 132kW (177bhp) of power and 430Nm of torque. The performance of the Jaguar is transmitted through an eight-speed automatic gearbox that powers the rear wheels. The XE also features driver aids like Jaguar Drive Control, Torque Vectoring by breaking and All Surface Progress control.
The Jaguar XE petrol is offered with two sets of tune of the 2.0-litre petrol engine– 147kW (197bhp) of power and 177kW (237bhp) of power and in three trims – Pure, Prestige and Portfolio. Jaguar also offers the sporty Jaguar XF executive sedan and XJ L luxury sedan along with its first ever performance SUV, the Jaguar F-Pace in India.
