Jaguar, the completely owned division of Tata Motors, has introduced its flagship model XF 2.2 Diesel in Chennai at Rs. 45.7 lakhs. The inaugural ceremony of the model was organised at the premises of British High Commission in Chennai. It must be noted that the model was introduced in the country sometime ago and now it is being taken other cities in a phased approach.
During this fiscal year, Jaguar Land Rover has come up with a sales growth of 157 per cent over the figures of last year, which seems quite overwhelming for the auto maker. This growth figures clearly indicate that Indians have developed a penchant for Jaguar models, which is somehow motivating the auto maker to introduce new models in the country. The count of JLR’s official dealership has reached to 17, across 15 cities of the country.
The new XF is incorporated with a 2.2 litre diesel engine, which churns out a maximum power of 188 bhp with an alarming torque of 450 Nm. Adding to the performance of this engine, it is incorporated with an 8-speed automatic transmission system, which can efficiently shuffle gears in mere 200 seconds. Besides this powertrain, the model comes with a bigger 3 litre V6 diesel power mill and a 5 litre supercharged V8 petrol engine, depending on the preference of buyer.
On the exterior front, the 2.2 litre variant of Jaguar XF only differs from its sibling with a single exhaust tip, mounted on the rear bumper. Industry experts are of a view that the auto maker was successful in offering its new sedan with a competitive pricing as it is locally assembled at the auto maker’s manufacturing unit in Chikhli, Pune. Reportedly, at the same plant, JLR produces its well acclaimed Land Rover Freelander 2.
The new features packed within the model include rear view camera, an advanced touch screen navigation system, TV tuner, gear shift paddles and electric sunroof, among others. With the introduction of Jaguar XF 2.2 Diesel in Chennai, the auto maker has pinned great hopes from the model.
