Overwhelmed by success of Skoda Octavia and Skoda Laura, the company is ready to launch new performance models in the Indian market. This new performance models from Skoda Auto will be termed as Skoda RS or Skoda Rally Sport which will be the sports edition of its all models. Launch dates of the new models are not finalized as yet. However, the expected launch of the RS models is after Skoda launches the Yeti in the Indian market.
Skoda is likely to launch the new models in both petrol and diesel variants. The company will launch two variants of its RS car. One will be a 2.0-L TDI that will offer 170 PS while the other will be a 2.0-L TSI engine with 200 PS. The Skoda RS car will be based on the 160-PS Laura. The Laura RS to be launched is sold as the Octavia RS in the international market. The car will have enhanced aerodynamics as well as a sporty interiors and exteriors.
“The appeal of the RS lies in the fact that it is an everyday sports car i.e. you can enjoy the space of a four-door family car as well as go full throttle when you desire speed , ” says Ashutosh Dixit , a senior general manager for sales and network development at Skoda Auto India.
