Heading the league is the country's largest passenger car maker, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), which is expected to roll out the most awaited car of the year, Alto 800. The new entry-level car carries the massive onus of filling-in the shoes of the iconic 800 car and the company has pinned great hopes with Alto 800 for propelling its sales on the domestic turf.

The upcoming Alto 800 will compete against the likes of Tata Nano and Hyundai Eon, besides carrying forward the legacy of MSIL of producing low cost and fuel efficient small cars for the Indian audience.

Tata Motors, the South Asia's leading automobile maker, is also working towards the build up of its new Safari Storme, which is expected to be launched around the second week of October 2012. The upcoming Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) will be involved in a direct tussle against Mahindra XUV500, upon its launch and is anticipated to spearhead Tata Motors' dominance in the domestic market.

The yet-to-be launched SUV shares the platform with Tata Aria Crossover and has been trimmed with several interesting interior and exterior features. The Safari Storme SUV holds a 2.2-litre DiCOR diesel engine under its hood, which churns out a maximum power-torque output of 140 bhp and 320 Nm, respectively. Further, the power-mill will come assimilated with a 5-speed manual transmission system that ensures enhanced and responsive performance delivery from the engine.

The domestic car lovers are in for a treat during the month of October 2012, as the Indian motor vehicle market will witness a plethora of new exciting launches. The much speculated automatic variant of the Honda Brio hatchback could hit Indian shores any time during the October month and many industry experts believe that the Japanese auto maker could also introduce a diesel variant of its popular hatch.
