      The Indian arm of BMW, a globally renowned German luxury automotive marque, is working round-the-clock to bring its latest European hit, 1 Series premium hatchback in the domestic market somewhere around the first half of 2013. Interestingly, the new 1 Series is creating a significant amount of buzz among domestic audience and the overall market, owing to its much anticipated aggressive pricing and premium looks. Industry sources suggest that the upcoming BMW 1 Series range could be launched with introductory price tags in the range between Rs. 16 to 20 lakhs, thereby becoming the most affordable Beemer on Indian turf.

      BMW's fellow German auto major- Mercedes-Benz has also lined up its A-Class model, which is a direct adversary of 1 Series In many international markets. Accordingly, some intense fireworks are expected when the two models are pitched in a direct face off against each other on Indian turf, in the near future. As per reports, the German auto major is expected to bring its much fawned upon 1 Series range via Completely Knocked Down (CKD) route in the country. BMW India might soon commence the local production of 1 Series at its Chennai-based manufacturing facility, where it currently assembles X1 and X3 utility vehicles, along with 3 and 5 Series luxury sedans.

      The yet-to-be launched BMW 1 Series is a premium hatchback and has helped the company in registering some impressive sales and fan following. The perky new Beemer flaunts a sporty design language, an impressive engine performance and youthful looks. Coming to under-the-hood specifications of the upcoming BMW 1 Series, the premium hatch will be introduced in both petrol and diesel powered options. The petrol trim of 1 Series is anticipated to come fitted with a 1.6 litre engine that will churn out power output around 140 bhp. The diesel trim is expected to be powered with a 2.0 litre motor that will produce output power close to 150 bhp.
