Hyundai has further expanded its foothold in the Middle East automotive market with the recent launch of the new Verna in Bahrain. This India-manufactured vehicle is produced in a left hand drive guise for the Middle East market. In terms of design and features, the Verna is quite similar to the one that is offered in India. It comes as the latest addition to the company’s product portfolio in the Middle East which includes the Grandi10, Creta, Tucson and the Santa Fe.
The new Verna is exported from the company’s facility in Chennai. Under the hood, the Middle East-bound Verna is offered in two petrol engine options - 1.4-litre which generates 99bhp of power at 6000rpm and 132Nm of peak torque at 4000rpm and a 1.6-litre engine that generates 121bhp of power at 6300rpm and 151Nm of torque at 4850rpm. Although the power output figures are similar to the India-bound Verna, the vehicle gets a six-speed automatic as standard in the Middle East.
Some of the features in the new Verna include bi-function projector headlamps with LED DRLs, 16-inch alloy wheels, chrome accents on the grille and fog lamp enclosure, and LED tail lights. Additionally, the vehicle gets an all-black cabin, touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and push-button start. As for safety, it gets ABS, ESC, Hill Assist Control, reverse camera with sensors and more.
