India-made Maruti Suzuki Baleno to be launched in Japan next month

Maruti Suzuki recently exported the Baleno hatchback to Japan through the Adani Port, Mundra in Gujarat. It will be launched for the Japanese market next month.

The first shipment of the premium hatchback including 1,800 units has been dispatched to Japan. This was a plan of the manufacturer under the 'Make in India' initiative. With this, Maruti Suzuki has become the first Indian manufacturer to export a model manufactured in India to a country where its parent company (Suzuki Motor Corporation) is located.

Suzuki Motor Corporation and its supplier partners have invested Rs 1,060 crore in the development of Baleno, which is currently being manufactured at the company's Manesar plant. To closely look at the manufacturing process of the product, around 200 dealers from Japan had also visited this Manesar plant.

The carmaker also plans to export the Baleno to over 100 global markets. After Japan, the Baleno will be introduced in European countries like Belgium, Denmark, France, Italy, Germany, Netherlands and Spain.

T Suzuki, President and COO, Suzuki Motor Corporation, said, "I am convinced that the Baleno will be the success story of 'Make in India' and the significance of Maruti Suzuki as the global production base will further expand."
