The new-generation Toyota Fortuner has been recently launched in Australia at a starting price of AUD 47,990 (equivalent to INR 22.73 lakh). The SUV is being offered in three trim levels – GX, GXL and Crusade – and two transmission options – a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic. Powering the vehicle is a 2.8-litre 1GD-FTV, four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that churns out a maximum power of 174bhp and 450Nm of torque. The same unit with the manual transmission offers 420Nm of torque. For the Indian market, the SUV will be available with three engine options – the all-new 2.4-litre and a 2.8-litre GD diesel, and the existing 2.7-litre petrol.
Talking about features, the base variant of the SUV is equipped with dot-type multi-information display (MID), brown fabric seat upholstery, four-way adjustable seat for front passenger, six-way adjustable driver seat, chrome interior handles and urethane steering wheel and gear shift knob. Features like projector halogen headlamps, 17-inches steel wheels with all-terrain tyres and body-coloured door handles also come as standard.
In addition to standard features, the mid-level GXL variant gets a 4.2-inch multi-function coloured display, an intelligent manual transmission (iMT), paddle shifters, keyless smart entry and start, downhill assist control, 17-inches alloys wrapped with all-terrain tyres, privacy glass, rear door trims, chrome door handles, roof rails and fog lamps.
The top-model Crusade comes with features like an infotainment system with satellite navigation, digital audio broadcasting and radio, eight-way electrically adjustable driver seat, woodgrian cabin trims, 220V accessory socket, LED DRLs, automatic LED projector headlamps with auto-levelling feature, tailgate with memory function and 18-inches alloy wheels with highway tyres. Coming to dimensions, the SUV measures 4,795mm in length, 1,855mm in width and 1,833mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,745mm. It has a ground clearance of 225mm, and offers a fuel tank capacity of 80-litres.
