Safety being the priority of all car manufacturers, most of the cars are offered with the standard safety equipment. However, that’s not all, the car has to survive the worst case scenario and still have its occupant alive by the end of it. That being said, the new Honda CR-V became the first model to be awarded a 5-star rating under the new ASEAN NCAP Assessment 2017-2020 Protocol.

      Fifth Gen HONDA CR-V

The car scored 47.25 points for Adult Occupant Protection, 22.84 points for Child Occupant Protection, and 18.71 points for Safety Assist Technologies for a total of 88.80 points—good enough for five stars. For comparison's sake, the previous-generation CR-V received four stars.

The car tested came with six airbags, ABS, stability control, front seat belt pre-tensioners and front seat belt reminders along with Honda Sensing driver assists, including autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist.

The tested vehicle is the fifth generation Honda CR-V which is anticipated to arrive at the Indian shore next year. The SUV is expected to be offered with a 1.6-litre diesel motor. Expect the car coming to Indian shores to offer similar levels of safety ratings.
