BMW has unveiled the 2015 BMW X5 M and 2015 BMW X6 M performance SUVs ahead of its their public debuts at the 2014 Los Angeles Motor Show. Out of the two, the 2015 BMW X6 M model will come to India. If media reports are to be believed, the performance SUV will go on sale by the mid-2015.
Under the hood is the 4.4-litre V8 Bi-Turbo engine that also powers the M5 and M6 Grand Coupe in India. The engine is capable of producing a top power output of 575 hp at 6,000 to 6,500 rpm and 750 Nm of torque between 2,200 to 5,000 rpm. There is a 4 per cent increase in power output and 10 per cent improvement in torque compared to the previous models. Moreover, the fuel efficient and CO2 emissions sees an improvement of 20 per cent. Power is transmitted to all-wheels of the SUV via an 8-speed M Steptronic transmission. The vehicle accelerates to 100kmph from standstill in just 4.2 seconds and hits an electronically limited top speed of 250kmph.
The SUVs features larger air intakes, rear spoiler and quad exhaust system. Its flared wheel arches have been fitted to 20-inch alloy wheels, while the 21-inchers will come as an optional. Inside the cabin, the SUV features an M instrument cluster, sports seats, M steering wheel, and M driver’s footrest.
