At present, only the European model of this motorcycle has been showcased, however the Yamaha MT-07 is anticipated to be launched in India soon. The MT-07 enjoys the same sort of basic riding goodness as that of the Yamaha FZ-09. With an aggressive styling tone that comprises muscular panels and striking lines, the air scoops, short yet chunky exhaust, split angular seats and LED tail lamps, MT-07 exudes a sporty look. Introduced as a city oriented motorbike, the MT-07 is fitted with a brand new engine that generates strong power and torque at a relatively lower rpm. This new bike from Yamaha weighs an extremely low 178 kg, which makes it a frisky city runner, perfect for the cluttered Indian roads. The lightweight design of Yamaha MT-07 is attributed to the steel tube backbone frame with tight dimensions.

The MT-07 is powered by an all-new 689 cc parallel-twin engine with a new Crossplane Crankshaft that uses a V-270 degree layout. This motorcycle is equipped with an engine that churns out 74 bhp of maximum power at 9000 rpm and 67.8 Nm of peak torque at 6500 rpm. The suspension set-up comprises typical non-adjustable forks at the front and pre-load adjustable shocks at the rear. Keeping in mind the safety of rider, the Yamaha MT-07 is provided with optional equipment, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), which will add up to 3 kg of weight to the bike. This bike comes with dual 282 mm front disc brakes and a single rear disc brake.

For easy accessibility and control, this motorcycle has been meticulously designed with one of the slimmest and most lightest chassis in its class. This new addition to the MT range gives a feeling of instant controllability and maximise the enjoyment felt during acceleration. The Yamaha MT-07 is possibly an exceptional versatile naked bike with all-new liquid-cooled engine, lightweight backbone frame, edgy-style and outstanding fuel economy. Interestingly, all these features combined make it an ideal motorbike to be owned by a bike lover.

As indicated, the amazing MT-07 bike will square off against the Kawasaki Ninja 650R, which is already on sale in India at an ex-showroom price of about Rs. 5 lakh. The bike of Kawasaki is offered with a 649 cc engine that gives away 70 bhp of power, alongside 64 Nm of torque, which is almost identical to that of Yamaha MT-07.
