Hyundai has teased a performance version of the Tucson ahead of its Geneva Motor Show debut. The Tucson N-Line is the second model in Hyundai’s line-up to get the N-Line treatment after the i30 and it has been confirmed that get a mild hybrid powertrain system.

Hyundai claims that the Tucson N-Line features motorsport-inspired styling details. This means it will sport larger wheels, sporty interior, twin exhaust tips, sports seats, contrast red stitch and a host of N-Line badges. The teaser gives a glimpse at the stylish new alloy wheel design along with boomerang-shaped LED DRLs. The grille might also get a blacked out mesh finish to add to the sportiness.

There are no clear details about the mechanical upgrades for the potent version of the SUV. But Hyundai will surely make some tweaks to the chassis and brakes. Under the hood, there’d be the same 1.6-litre T-GDi petrol motor which powers the i30. The powertrain is expected to put out around 175bhp of power. The oil burner, on the other hand, will get a new 48Volt mild hybrid system mated to the 2.0-litre unit. This is, of course, before the full-blown Tucson N makes its entrance with 340bhp power.

The Tucson N-Line is just the start of much more to come from the brand, says Hyundai. So we expect more models in the Hyundai line-up to get the performance treatment in near future. Meanwhile, the potent Tucson will lock horns with the likes of Skoda Kodiak RS, Seat Ateca Cupra, and other upcoming performance crossovers.
