The much awaited Hyundai Tucson is expected to be launched in India in September this year. We believe that the upcoming car will be positioned between the Santa Fe and Creta in India and the company expects to sell around 20,000 to 30,000 units a year. The second-generation model is expected to reclaim the lost share in this segment.

The company has not revealed the specs for the India-bound model yet. It could either be a 2.0-litre diesel engine which generates 180bhp of power and 400Nm of torque or a 1.6-litre four-cylinder diesel motor that produces 128bhp and 260Nm of torque. Owing to recent 2.0-litre diesel ban in Delhi and Kerala, we believe it might be the smaller diesel engine that the company might opt for. Hyundai might also offer a 1.8-litre petrol engine mated to a six-speed AT that generates 147bhp and 178Nm of torque.

Based on recent spy images, the Hyundai Tucson sported projector headlamps, full LED tail lamps and alloy wheels. On the pricing aspect, we believe, it might be priced between Rs 15 - 18 lakh. Hyundai had recently expanded its Tucson range in UK with a fifth drivetrain option featuring a 1.7-litre turbo diesel engine mated to a seven-speed double clutch transmission.
