New products are definitely helping auto makers in India to register growth in sales, a good example of this is South Korean automotive firm Hyundai. Last year, the company launched Grand i10 hatchback which opened to a good response and is roping in decent numbers every month. Company’s latest launch, Xcent touted to be a part of compact sedan segment has been able to strike a chord with the customers.

The sedan received an overwhelming response and has been able to give a tough competition to its rivals Amaze and Dzire within few months of its launch. Xcent’s growing popularity is evident by the stretched waiting period for the sedan in various parts of the country. However, the company is now said to be working on increasing production of the vehicle to suffice surging demand. This will help in squeezing waiting periods and pull in more bookings.

Both Xcent and Grand i10 drive a major chunk of Hyundai India’s monthly sales. Tagged as the largest car maker in India, almost half of the company’s sales is derived from exports. The company is also chalking out plans to export Xcent to overseas markets. Before shipping Xcent, Hyundai is studying various markets to finalize on the export. Xcent is being manufactured at the Hyundai’s manufacturing plant located in Chennai.
