Hyundai will further expand the Verna range in India with a 1.4-litre petrol engine option. The new petrol engine option will be available from 10 January 2018 and bookings for the same has been on for quite a while now for a token amount of Rs 25,000. The 1.4-litre engine will be limited to a petrol engine option for now, while the diesel derivative might be introduced on a later date.

The Hyundai Verna 1.4-litre petrol engine will generate 105bhp of power and will be positioned below the 1.6-litre petrol engine option in the country. The smaller engine option will emerge as an affordable option for car buyers in the country and also boost up sales for the Verna sedan. Changes are limited to a new engine option only. It does not get any new cosmetic or feature upgrades. Pricing details will be known post its launch in the country.

The fifth-generation Verna is based on Hyundai's Fluidic design language philosophy. Built on the new K2 platform, the company claims that it utilises 50 percent advanced high-strength steel to make it safer than its predecessor. Currently, the vehicle is available in 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol version generates 121bhp of power at 6,400rpm and 151Nm of peak torque at 4,850 rpm. The diesel on the other hand generates 126bhp at 4000rpm and an impressive torque of 260Nm from as low as 1,500rpm. Both engines can be had with a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission.
