When Tata Nano was expected to be launched in 2008, there was frenzy over this car. Tata Motors and Ratan Tata actually made the global auto industry and the customers across the globe believe that there could be an ultra-cheap car well under $2500. Next came the announcements for other ultra cheap car out of which the most prominent one was from Bajaj Renault Nissan’ competitor to Nano. However, the car project has already hit several road blocks to make it to the set deadline of 2011.

Now the UK media reports that Hyundai is planning to develop a Nano-competitor. Hyundai Motor India is the second largest car manufacturer in the country. India is also its small car manufacturing hub and the company has all the facilities to manufacture a small car in India, if desired.

The UK media has revealed that Indian engineers at Hyundai are working in close association with their Korean counterparts to develop another micro car. However, this micro is expected to be first released in Europe and then subsequently in India. Hyundai plans to bring out 800cc and 1000cc engine cars but there is no official confirmation from the company so far.
