Hyundai launched its premium luxury sedan, Hyundai Sonata in India few years back. It is one of the most popular luxury sedans in its segment and has not only fancied the luxury car lovers in India but has also carved its niche segment worldwide. Hyundai recently launched its fifth generation Sonata Embera in India with 2.4 litre petrol engine and and 2-litre diesel engine. The powerful and smooth petrol engine comes with both manual and automatic transmission. The vehicle clocks superb fuel efficiency in its segment due to light weight and aluminum engine block. Sonata is able to deliver a fuel efficiency of 6-7 kmpl in the city and nearly 10 kmpl on the highway. The all-new 2L CRDi engine pumps out 140 bhp at 4,000 rpm and 33 kgm of torque between 2,000 to 2,680 rpm. It has the capacity to churn out a maximum power of 165PS @ 5800 rpm. The standard diesel variant comes with 6-speed manual transmission. The 4-speed H-matic transmission makes driving a pleasure. You can expect best manners from the new Sonata Embera while driving at all speeds. Moreover, the car has greater stability on road and does not give problems at hard cornering.
The new Embera comes with upgraded chic looks and better styling. The new Embera looks personify the warrior class in Central America after which the car was christened. The earlier version of Sonata had vertical slats in the front grille which resulted in “Korean Grin”. The new Sonata Embera has horizontal slats and is more subtle in nature as compared to the earlier flashy one. Moreover on the right rear of the car, there is the small matter of rebadging. The new Sonata has 2.7 V6 in Gold where the ‘Gold’ badging used to be at the rear end. Car wheel have also been changed to 16 inch 10 spoke aluminum alloy wheels in place of 15” 9-spoke alloy wheels. With a highly rigid and flex free body structure, the new Sonata offers superb dynamics and world class driving comfort.
