A panel of auto journalist in the US and a California family recently judged an auto show where they were asked to choose in The $25,000 Family Sedan Shootout. The event was organised by research site Cars.com and PBS TV show MotorWeek. Eight cars were judged to be the best family sedan under $25,000 which included 2010 Ford Fusion, 2010 Chevrolet Malibu, 2010 Nissan Altima, 2010 Honda Accord, 2010 Mazda6, 2010 Suzuki Kizashi, 2010 Toyota Camry and the 2011 Hyundai Sonata.

Hyundai Sonata is priced at $22,745 and scored 794 points out of 1000. The cars were put through real life test for three days and were judged as average families would drive their sedans in regular fashion. "We looked to see how easy it was to install car seats, we filled the trunks with groceries, and as any parent can relate to, we drove all around town. Having participation from a family of four that is actually in the market to buy a car helped ensure that we kept our focus on the features that are most important in this segment," said Patrick Olsen, Cars.com editor-in-chief. Next in line were Toyota Camry and Suzuki Kizashi with 752 and 731 points each respectively.

Hyundai Sonata and Toyota Camry fall in the premium sedan segment in the Indian auto market. The cars are known for their luxury and performance in the sedan segment. Suzuki is yet to launch Kizashi in India which is expected to be end of 2010 and is one of the most eagerly awaited cars from Maruti Suzuki.
