      Hyundai sees a fall in sales in India during 2013

      Hyundai Motor Company, the South Korean auto maker, has projected a fall in its 2013 sales from the Indian operations. As per the auto company’s business plan for the current year, Hyundai India is expecting that its Chennai production unit will wholesale 6,33,000 units with a dip of 1.3 per cent in 2013, under the review of 6,41,000 units marked in 2012.

      It must be noted that the auto maker has reported a marginal growth in its 2012 sales in the country. During the period, the sales of Hyundai India expanded by 4.7 per cent, amounting to 3,91,276 units against 3,73,709 units delivered in the year-ago period. The exports of the company stood at 2,50,005 units with an increase of 3.12 per cent against 2,42,431 units rolled out in the same tenure of 2011.

      The overall worldwide sales target of the car maker is set higher at 46,60,000 units for 2013 calendar year with an increase of 5.7 per cent from 44,10,000 units of 2011. During the last calendar year, revenues of the company marked 5,097 billion Korean won (KRW), more than Rs. 25,600 crore, with a growth of 1 per cent over KRW 5,052 billion, over Rs. 25,400 crore, recorded in the year-ago period.

      In 2012, HMC registered a net profit of KRW 9.06 trillion, marking an increase of 11.7 per cent against KRW 8.11 trillion of 2011. The sales revenue during the period marked KRW 84.47 trillion against KRW 77.80 trillion recorded in the corresponding period of last year, with an increase of 8.6 per cent.

      During Q4, which ended in December 31, 2012, Hyundai Motor Company registered a fall of 5.49 per cent in its net profit with figures standing at KRW 1.89 trillion against KRW 2 trillion. During the period, the revenues of the auto maker stood at KRW 22.72 trillion as against KRW 20.52 trillion reported in year-ago period.
