The first Santro trim from Hyundai was powered by 1.0 Liter engine in the country, whereas in 2003 the vehicle received its first major upgrade in form of Santro Xing which was powered by a bigger 1.1 Liter, 3-cylinder petrol engine that generated about 62 Bhp of power.
