      Hyundai sales up by 9 per cent year on year

      Hyundai has been making a point for itself as the second largest car seller in the country and has sold 43,201 units in August 2016. With the launch of the new Hyundai Elantra last week, the Korean car maker is betting on the good monsoon and macro-economic factors to fuel the growth story further.

      Domestic sales of Hyundai, at 43,201 units, have grown 6.7 per cent over August 2015 (40,505 units). As for the trend in 2016, the sales numbers have gone up by 2,000 units – almost five per cent more over the month of July. The exports have also increased from 14,102 units to 16,506 units, 17 per cent more over August 2015.

      While we are yet to get the individual sales numbers for every model, the Hyundai Creta, the Elite i20 and the Grand i10 have been the prime contributors in overall sales. Hyundai is also planning to launch the automatic version of petrol Elite i20 which will help boost the numbers of the premium hatchback. Also, according the J.D. Power study for Sales Satisfaction Index (SSI) for new car buyers has ranked Hyundai third in the list of car makers for 2016.
