At the 2018 Sao Paulo Auto Show, Hyundai has taken the wraps off the Saga concept electric compact crossover. Unofficially, it’s a design study for future generations of the Brazil-only HB20 and HB20X. But even more unofficially, we believe that it hints at the direction that Hyundai will take with its compact crossover models for developing markets.

There are major design cues from the Santa Fe, Elantra and even the Tucson visible in this car which is not a bad thing because the latest crop of
Hyundai’s and Kia’s have come out looking very good. Highlights include the cascade grille, swept back headlights and chunky wheels and tyres for that larger than life look. Also visible are the wedge-like tail lamps that sit like slivers of red on the back of the crossover. The concept is powered by the same electric powertrain set found in the Kona EV which produces the equivalent of 204bhp and has a range of up to 470km!

Like we said, it might throw massive cues to the Brazil-spec HB20 and HB20X. But to us, it hints at design cues for future compact crossover models that are likely to come to India.
