      Korean carmaker Hyundai holds the exclusive rights for first ball handover ceremony during the opening match between New Zealand and Sri Lanka on 14th February. The company is also the official partner for International Cricket Council (ICC) event. The ‘First Ball’ handover ceremony was done by Mr. Sanjay Gupta, Sr. General Manager & Group Head - Marketing, Hyundai Motor India to the Match Umpire Mr. Simon Fry at Hagley Oval, Christchurch.

      The opening match was won by New Zealand wherein the team scored 331/6 while batting first. Sri Lankan’s failed to chase this strong target and ended up losing in the 47 over with a total of 233. Hyundai’s partnership with International Cricket Council (ICC) began way back in 2011 when the automaker became the ‘Official Car Partner’ for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011. Whereas in 2012, Hyundai decided to take a step forward to be the ‘Official Partner’ of the ICC and partnered with seven ICC official tournaments from 2012 to 2015.
