Hyundai Malaysia commences bookings for the Ioniq Hybrid

While prices are expected to start at RM 130,000 (Rs 20.27 lakh), the Ioniq Hybrid will compete with Toyota’s Prius in the Malaysian market.

To reap the benefits of the Malaysian government’s incentive for CKD energy efficient vehicles (EEVs), the Ionic Hybrid will be assembled at Hyundai’s plant at Kulim, the first location outside of South Korea to assemble the Ioniq Hybrid.

Power for the Ioniq Hybrid will be derived from a 1.6-litre 105bhp Kappa direct injection engine which uses a 44bhp electric motor, a lithium-ion battery, and a six-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox (DCT). Hyundai claims that the Ioniq Hybrid can do speeds of up to 120kmph on pure electric power.

“The Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid, promises a pleasurable driving experience. It will not only appeal to fuel-efficiency oriented buyers but also car buyers who are looking for a car with advanced technologies, great performance and a stylish design,” said Lau Yit Mun, MD of HSDM.
