Hyundai launches Venue compact SUV in India at Rs 650000

Hyundai has launched the Venue SUV in India at Rs 6.50 lakhs (All-India ex-showroom). It's a compact sub-4 metre SUV for India and finds a place in their hierarchy under Creta. There are 13 variants across four trims, seven colours and with three engine options. The Venue measures in at 3995mm in length, 1770mm in width and 1590mm in height, while the wheelbase is 2500mm.

Design highlights of the Venue include the grille, alloy wheels, tail lamps and of course, the LED DRLs that sit normally where one would find the headlamps. The top-of-the-line SX (O) models get an all-black theme with faux brushed aluminium trim, cooled glove box, rear AC vents and wireless charging. However, the biggest highlight is the 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Blue Link connectivity. There’s 33 connected services, of which, ten features are specific to India. Under the hood, there are two petrol options and one diesel. The petrol engines comprise a 1.2-litre unit and, for the first time, a turbocharged 1.0-litre gasoline direct injection unit. The former is the unit found in the Grand i10 and Elite i20 and produces 81bhp/114Nm while the GDI unit produces 118bhp/171Nm. There’s only a five-speed manual for the 1.2-litre engine while the latter is offered with a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual clutch automatic. The GDI petrol DCT has an fuel efficiency of 18.15kmpl while the manual model has an efficiency of 18.27kmpl. The diesel version is only available as a manual has an efficiency of 23.7kmpl. The diesel is the 1.4-litre unit offered with the base Creta models as well as the Elite i20. It produces 89bhp/219Nm and is offered only with a six-speed manual.

The Venue is Hyundai's answer to the likes of the Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and the Honda WR-V in the sub-4 SUV segment.
