      Hyundai India sales surge 15.20 per cent in January 2012

      The country’s second largest car maker Hyundai Motors India Limited (HMIL) has registered a sales surge of 15.20 per cent in the month of January 2012. The company managed to sell a total of 49,901 units of its cars during this month as compared to 43,316 units sold in the same month last year.

      Speaking on the company’s performance during this month, HMIL Director (Marketing and Sales) Arvind Saxena said, "The year seems to have started on a positive note, domestic sales are showing some buoyancy. But we will have to cautiously watch how this momentum picks up in the months ahead."

      In the Indian auto market, the company sold a total of 33,900 units of its cars during this month, as compared to 30,306 units sold in the same month preceding year, accounting for a sales surge of 30,306 units.

      On the other hand, the exports of country’s largest car exporter HMIL stood at 16,001 units during this month as compared to 13,010 units dispatched to the overseas markets same month last year, registering a growth of 22.99 per cent.

      Segment wise, the A2 segment of car that comprises of Eon, Santro Xing, i10 and i20 stood at 44,960 units. On the other hand, sales of A3 segment of cars including sedans Accent and Verna stood at 4,797 units.
