Hyundai Motors India Limited (HMIL), the largest car exporter and the second largest car manufacturer in the Indian market, has registered a sales decline of 7.5 percent in the month of October 2011. The cumulative sales of the firm stood at 48,325 units during this month as compared to 52,217 units sold in the same month last year.
While commenting on the company’s performance during the month, Director (marketing and sales) Arvind Saxena, Hyundai Motors, said, "We have seen that sales get a boost in the festive season but this year sentiment has been tepid."
In the domestic market, the company’s sales stood at 33,001 units, as compared to 34,720 units of its cars sold in the same month last year. The company’s recently rolled-out small car EON registered heavy sales during the month. The car was launched on 13th October and so far the company has received bookings for over 9,000 units of this car in the Indian market. Hyundai EON is expected to give a tough fight to the country’s largest selling car Maruti Alto.
On the other hand, the export of the country’s largest car exporter stood at 15,324 units as against 17,497 units dispatched to the overseas market in October 2010, registering a sales surge of 12.4 percent.
