Hyundai India launches new Tucson at Rs 18.99 lakh

After making its global debut in early 2015, the all-new Hyundai Tucson has arrived in the Indian market. The stylish and feature-rich crossover has been priced between Rs 18.99 lakh and Rs 24.99 lakh and competes with a range of cars including the Honda CR-V, Mahindra XUV 500 and Skoda Yeti.

Hyundai India is offering the Tucson with two engine options and in three variants – 2WD MT, 2WD AT GL and 2WD AT GLS. Design wise, the front of the new Tucson is dominated by Hyundai’s signature hexagonal front grille connecting with the LED headlamps. The front bumper features a wing-shaped appearance, which incorporates the LED daytime running lights, giving a visual reference to the vehicle’s wide track. The rear, meanwhile, has a clean design with horizontal lines that flow from the rear wheel arches and are accentuated by slim tail lights.

Going into the details, the Tucson is available with two engine options – a 2-litre petrol and 2-litre diesel. Both engines can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The petrol engine produces 153bhp and 192Nm of torque whereas the diesel is particularly strong, with 182bhp and up to 400Nm of torque. Hyundai is claiming 13.03kmpl for petrol manual and 12.95kmpl for petrol automatic. The diesel Tucson, on the other hand, is rated at 18.42kmpl for the manual and 16.83kmpl for the automatic variant.

In terms of features, standard equipment across the range includes electrically foldable wing mirror, automatic headlamps, cruise control, puddle lamps, 60:40 split rear seat, second row with reclining function, drive and passenger airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors and Hyundai’s new 8-inch infotainment system with GPS and Android Auto and Apple Car Play connectivity. The top-spec GLS variant though comes with exclusive features such as electric tailgate, side and curtain airbags, front parking sensors and electronic parking brake.
