Hyundai Motors India Limited (HMIL), the largest car exporter and the second largest car maker in the Indian market, is enhancing its presence in the rural market ahead of the launch of its 800cc small car. It is to be mentioned here that Hyundai India is building a new 800cc small car that will be launched in the country by early 2012.
In a recent statement, Y K Koo, Senior Director (Sales and Marketing) HMIL said that the small car will be launched in the first half of next year and Hyundai has no immediate plans to export the car.
While speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the launch of the Hyundai Verna RB in Andhra Pradesh, Mr. Yoo said, "We are planning to launch it in the first half of next year. The car will be manufactured in our Indian plant. HMI is very strong in compact car segment. With this launch, we hope to dominate the rural market also. That is our strategy. If we have a small car it is easy to penetrate into the rural market."
The new 800 CC small car of Hyundai will be competing with the likes of Maruti Alto and is expected to drive high volumes in the country.
